Several law enforcement agencies hosted Operation West Side Sleigh Ride
in Ocoee this week. Although this event sounds like a fun holiday activity
for children, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Operation West Side Sleigh Ride is actually a joint anti-drug operation
among several local law enforcement agencies, which had agents hitting
the streets in Ocoee and arresting suspected drug dealers. Seven of the
nineteen suspects were arrested and the charges ranged from the sale and
delivery of cocaine, oxycodone, ecstasy, hydromorphone, methamphetamine
and cannabis, and also the illegal alteration of a firearm.
One suspect, Marcus Conyers, according to police, has been a known dealer
for at least a decade and was caught with 31 grams of cocaine when arrested.
William Burlingham, another suspect, was not only selling meth when arrested,
but police say they found a sawed off shotgun in his possession, as well.
The four law enforcement agencies that participated in this joint operation
were the West Orange Narcotics Task Force, the Orange County Sheriff’s
Office, the Ocoee Police Department, and the Winter Garden Police Department.
On Thursday, two additional arrests that resulted from a search warrant
in Winter Garden in connection with Operation West Side Sleigh Ride were
also made.
The penalties for Florida drug possession, distribution and manufacture
are quite severe. When you have been charged with any kind of drug crime,
you need to immediately contact an experienced
Florida criminal defense attorney who will aggressively defend you against all charges, as well as protect
