Karl Man of CBS 12 News has an interesting 2 minute video, asking questions
in the wake of Colorado’s recent changes, which went beyond medical
usage, and made the weed legal for recreational use in that state.
Florida is
not one of the 20 states (plus the District of Columbia) in which medical
marijuana is legal.
Petitions are being circulated for voters to get the legalization initiative
on the November ballot. An estimated 700,000 signatures will be needed
by February 1st, according to the CBS report. If Colorado sees a surge
in tourism, the pressure on Florida will intensify.
Are There Benefits? Disadvantages?
There are pros and cons to the decriminalization of marijuana. There are
huge commercial interests watching this closely too. Tobacco companies
have already been busy with brand names, trademarks, and domain names
like “AltriaCannibis.com” (for example).
However Florida’s future pans out, in the meantime, if you are charged
with distribution of drugs, you need a vigorous defense. Please contact
