Mark Edward Moore is facing criminal charges following a vehicle collision
on the evening of March 7th. Moore was charged with
DUI, DUI property damage, and
DUI causing serious bodily injury.
Moore, of Cape Coral, was an investigator with the state attorney’s
office for 10 years, but has resigned from his position following the
accident. He worked at the Lee County office in Fort Meyers.
The collision took place at the intersection of Cape Coral Parkway and
Skyline Boulevard. Police say a Ford Explorer driven by Moore drove into
the path of a Camry driven by Ryan Knaby, of Fort Meyers. Knaby sustained
serious injuries in the crash, but was listed in good condition at Lee
Memorial Hospital. Police say that Knaby was not wearing a seatbelt at
the time of the collision.
Moore allegedly refused a breathalyzer, but was charged following a mandatory
blood draw at the Cape Coral Police Department. He has been released from
jail and has pleaded not guilty.
Samantha Syoen, a spokeswoman for the state attorney, stated that Knaby
has an active DUI case from Jan 30. The state attorney’s office
has requested that Knaby’s DUI case and Moore’s DUI case both
be reassigned to a different district for handling. Both cases have been
reassigned to the 12th Circuit in Sarasota.
